A reflashed PCM will disable the 173kph (108mph) speed limiter.

The real top speed is somewhere in the 240kph - 275kph+ (150mph - 170mph+) range depending on gearing.

It could even be more than that.

Correct. A stock GT wouldn't be able to, but i never said anything about a stock GT.

With a modded GT, it would definitely be possible with the correct modifications (boost).

  • @wildman00sax The GT doesnt have enoph power to get it past around 120 without some mods. A GTP stock will get you to 135. A GXP tops out at around 150 so there is no way a stock 200 HP 3800 could get you to 150.

  • @blackspike1991 no, you press two buttons and then km/h lights up instead of mph. when you switch to metric units it does this as well as measures in liters per km instead of mpg

  • @burkem10 By doing that all the time, you mean you remove the gauge cluster and replace the gauge face just to make your passenger think you're going 130?

  • @ferniekid314 The 3.8 does not have a chip, it has a solid PCM that can only be flashed. The program is very expensive, but you can buy and OBD-II to USB adapter for a laptop and if you get your hands on a program, flash it yourself and tune pretty much anything you want. It isn't recommended for someone who doesn't know what they're doing, but you can always get it dyno tuned.

  • @ferniekid314 overkill pcm, you can get it from getoverkilled(dot)ca

  • @DAIadvisor

A re-programmed computer (PCM) will disable the 108mph speed limiter.

I believe the 2006 PCMs are different than the 2005 and previous ones, so you may need a custom tune.

  • @wildman00sax

Is there a way to remove the governor? I have an 06 and it cuts out at 108.

  • Thats km/h you can change it from mph to km/h on grand prix's

I do it all the time to make it look like im driving 130+ mph when reall im going aobut 70

  • @ferniekid314

Just google ZZP 1.0 PCM and you'll find it.

Your car has 3.29 gears I believe. It's not a programmer or a chip. It's just a stock engine management computer that has some changes made to it.
