Here Shawn Lane plays "Upside Downside" (by Mike Stern), at Six One Six in Memphis, TN. on the 13th November 1991, with Barry Bays on bass and Steve Ebe on drums.
Shawn was opening for Sean Rickman this night (Sean Rickman later became Shawn's drummer in his `Powers of Ten` band).

  • Is that the guitar from all the willys jams?

  • @tudortoomey Yeah, that's the exact same guitar from his days with The Willy's. Shawn loved that guitar.

  • @Stu411 It's a Roland guitar which came with their synth, but Ibanez was the manufactor

  • @MyShawnLaneVideos What company is the guitar from, If I'm not mistaken does Pat Metheny play this guitar also? If you know of Metheny?

  • @oilkills He was also in the #1 position, in guitar world for the fastest guitarist's list!!!! Hat's off SHAWN!

  • First time I've heard Shawn sweep haha. feels kinda awkward :P

  • The flourish toward the end...around 4:50...is just amazing...can anyone describe or clarify his pick and finger (looks like mainly middle finger) technique? Looks like hes dragging or helping along notes note hit with the pick in between strokes...very innovative...i think Greg Howe really does this too...any help?

  • So happy I heard him live, once, L.A. in -92. Musicality, technique and innovation, top ten ever!

  • God sometimes when 'tired of classical music and Paganini's violin calls him and says "Hey Shawn, bring your guitar and let me have fun with your shredding ...."

    R. I. P. Maestro!!!

  • My gosh, so sick!!! I love it so much!

  • @Zaspor Very sad, he was so amazingly good. I feel like he played the guitar just like i would like to play it. I recognise many of his ideas in my own style, it helps alot when trying to learn "esperanto". Really my all time favorite guitarist

  • @GuitarsOfArp Yeah, some type of disease that made him gain weight and eventually killed him in 03'.
