Bass Legend Tony Levin explains the Chapman Stick, The Funk Fingers and his experiences with Peter Gabriel and Robert Fripp. Also, check out my Funny Dream Theater Tribute Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l41rFwJK7cM
I met Tony at the NAMM show Ernie Ball stage. I went to shake his hand and he said, "wait a minute", Tony came off the stage and met me. A year or two later at the Ampeg booth he actually recognized and said hi to me. I was a bit speechless at the time. I first remember him with Paul Simon, Later on Double Fantasy and Three of a Perfect Pair Live in Japan, which is one of the best live concerts EVER. What an Artist, What a Soul !!
crazy how much hes able to name drop lol king crimson, peter gabriel, yes
i honestly wouldnt have been surprised to hear "so yeah, i came up with this awesome technique when beethoven needed a hand with the cadenza for this bass concerto he was working on..."
Music god and innovator. Also a very smart guy. It's refreshing to hear a professional musician sound intelligent and not idiotic.
