What rubbish... He was a HINDU KING all his life, only after the battle with the Kingdom of Kalinga he renounced Hinduism and embraced Buddhism. That too not out of long belief or anything but just out of guilt of killing so many Kalingans. Please brush up your goddamn history before posting any nonsense on youtube. Get a life you pathetic idiots.

@opensourcebuddhism Yes, he knows more than me. I agree with him though.

@eflwinnie Yes Elfwinnie, Prashant is clearly a different thinker from you, and he has the goods on his own Hinduism...hats off to the self-critical thinker! He has schooled SeaWolf and Sea Wolf has no answer. I saw it myself. One may not even consort or talk to someone of a different caste in Kathmandu. Some thought it unthinkable I had dinner at a low caste haircutter's house. I didn't even notice till later! Hinduism is both incredibly tolerant and intolerant at the same time.

The Mitanni were an Indo-European (Hurrian) people whose kingdom in northern Mesopotamia flourished from about1600 until it was conquered by the Hittite King Suppiluliumas during the reign of Akhenaten. At its peak, the empire stretched from Kirkuk (ancient Arrapkha)& the Zagros mountains in western Iran in the east, through Assyria to the Mediterranean sea in the west. Its center was in the region of the Khabur River, where its capital,Washukkani the Mitanni empire included such cities as Alalakh
Misleading documentary. That's the problem with WHITE PEOPLE. They always try to twist history. FAKE story.

@tovishal2009 You are right Tovisha: it is only white people who distort history. Odd thing about them...certainly Chinese or Indians never do that...do they?

@opensourcebuddishm When you started fighting for the fame of your "religion" even buddhism starts to sounds like its breeding "fundamentalistism". Just stop defending buddhism and the facts about asoka. Whenever people start following a strict set of rules and form a community based on that it actually starts drawing borders and portraying as "us" against "them". In that regard regard I still like Hinduism. There are no boundaries and restrictions.

@Seaw0lf77 Easy to say, hard to do Seawolf. You see, that is generally what annoys Buddhists about Hindus...everything is just ok, all are welcome, no need to talk about differences. Buddhism has some features it shares with Protestantism and Judaism...in an odd way, Islam....which is things are not all right. Be a Daoist or Hindu...I don't care, but Confucius joins the chorus: let's make a peaceful society! These Hindus attacking Ashoka attack his final pacificism!
