@indyfan22k Are you kidding? The situation is incalculably better than 30 years ago.
Nuclear weapons have been, for the most part, detargeted. Because of modern communications technology, nuclear weapons do not have to be put under the control of local commanders.
Tactical nuclear weapons, like the GLCM and those carried by the US Navy, and Pershing, have been decommissioned. The US now has about 3,000 nuclear weapons, as opposed to 30,000.
How can you argue there has been no progress?

Politicians do love this planet. After all the communists and non-communists went to war in Korea and Vietnam in favour of a nuclear war some generation ago. After all, who wants a dead radioactive planet ? It looks bad for politicians and it won't get any votes. Instead, why not fight our wars at the expense of those poor pawns and their lands who are held captive by the 'superpowers', and keep the nukes out ?

Is the alternative to power acceptable? This foreign Leftist would probably prefer it that the USSR were still around, that socialism were still holding Eastern Europe captive to totalitarian statism and economic and civilizational stagnation. Did she deliver a lecture such as this one in the USSR or in Red China? The objective of her ilk is America's unilateral disarmament. Those who want the American nation disarmed also want American individuals disarmed. History is written by its winners.
