As Christmas episodes of TV series go, this Holiday episode of The Donna Reed Show is as good as it gets with just the right mixture of comedy and tug at your heart string moments not to mention a wonderful guest appearance by Buster Keaton. If you are a fan of classic television I highly recommend that you purchase the first season of this terrific series. Many people come on you tube and talk about missing this show and that show and wanting to see these shows, but the only way they'll be released and continue to be marketed is if you support them by actually buying the DVD's. I certainly recommend this purchase for many reasons.

Unlike what some of the major studios have been doing lately, Arts Alliance brings you the first season in it's entirety with no cuts and no edits and no music replacement. Plus for about 29.99 you get 37 episodes. So you might want to pick this up while you can.

  • The end of this one made me cry! Great episode!

  • Yep. When those tears started forming in Buster Keaton's eyes and he was holding his first present, I was very moved.

  • Merry Christmas Buster Keaton, wherever you are :)

  • @mem56 ~ Made me cry too, I never saw the Donna Reed show, I heard about it tho' I was born in 1966....Just decided to watch this with a co-worker who is young enough to remember the show, were both sitting here crying....What wonderful writing and what wonderful acting....

  • Growing up we never opened up Christmas presents on Christmas Eve. Im not sure why people do that. Thats sorta cheating. We always waited til CHRISTMAS DAY to open our presents. Thats how you should do it. Also it gives you something to look forward to.

  • @mem56 It did me too. Those were the days when Christmas meant so much more about the true meaning, than it does in today's world.

  • I could see tears coming into Buster's eyes..and now one can say that"The Great Stone Face"has the face of a kindly and sweet man.

  • Normally..I'm not a Buster Keaton Fan..but this show..I enjoyed his performance as"Charlie"the shy but kindly hospital janitor..who gives those lonely kids a Merry Christmas..God Bless You Buster.

  • This was my first time seeing this show. I loved it. We need this type of family enjoyment back again.

  • @MissGoldenDreams13 Joseph Francise Keaton the Sixth Thanks You so Much -

Merry Christmas to your Family - May God Bless you by the Life of His First Begotten Son Jesus
