Ive been training for athletic improvement for over a year now and have reached a vertical of over 30 inches and have a 1.6x bw squat at 6'4 but i have never done any shock plyo movements. where would be a good place to start? how high of a box should i use for depth drops and jumps?

@tutunaru You got it bud...no worries...everyone learns differently. Next week I promise we will tape some good exercise execution vids for you and others that are looking for that! Thanks for following our page and the respect and we will deliver what you want!

@explosiveedge pls don't get the wrong idea, theory is good, sometimes for some people it is better to read a description and understand the exercises but me, I have to see the exercise in slow mo and hear the explanation to it. theory is very good to understand why do you do it and what happens while you do it and maybe manage to apply the theory to other stuff, anyway much respect for you guys

@mike72688 Thanks for the suggestion...we will continue to play around with the video/sound set-up. Hard to tape outside in MN winters-HA! But it's getting warmer now so we can always open the doors and hopefully help with the sound quality and such.

@tutunaru Thanks for the comments and suggestion. B/C of the abundance of vids out there that just show exercises often times people don't know/understand what the reasoning is for utilizing a given training methodology so that is what we often attempt to deliver so people know why so they can more properly do the how. However, we will do our best in the future to deliver some content with actual exercises. Thanks again.

The gym background adds to your credibility but using the video camera built-in microphone in that environment makes you sound less professional. It would be better to just film this video outside where you have better sound ambience. Otherwise, good information.
so bascically there is no techinical eccentric phase in a depth jump? you land already flexed and then simply explode up as quickly as possible

@hempfield21 Good question. Actually there is a VERY sharp, but very brief (depending on someone's capabilities) eccentric phase from the moment someone's foot comes in contact with the ground, till they reach the deepest portion of knee flexion before beginning the concentric/overcoming action (there will be a short amortization phase/coupling/transition between upward and downward in there, as well). Hope that helps?

good video matt. i have one question. when doing depth jumps i know it is good to have a low ground contact time but when you jump off the box should you land with your knees already bent and then explode up as quickly as possible? or is it bettor to land with a straightor leg and right as you land sink down into the eccentric phase of the jump?

@hempfield21 Good question. During depth jump execution, pre-landing body position is of utmost importance. The pre-landing technique should include one landing with knees flexed slightly to absorb the force more quickly upon landing so when is able to not only attain lower ground contact times, but also still produce a concentric action which will be closer to that of sport-specific demands.
