Accipiter Gentilis - Azor Juvenil - Goshawk

Un juvenil de azor apostado sobre un tejado derruido, refugio de palomas, acecha a posibles presas. Baja calidad, muy repentino.
A goshawk searches for food on a broken roof, a roosting place for doves. Poor quality, it appeared all of a sudden.

Gracias por la precisión, Accipiternisus. Cómo se ve la diferencia y cómo le calculas la edad? Pocas veces he tenido la suerte de verlo y siempre a distancia...me gustaría saber un poco más.

Man it looks more like juvenile Goshawk(Accipiter gentilis). Watch the neck and beak. It´s too massive for a Sparrowhawk.

Herzlich willkommen, Deinonychus6. Perhaps you are right and it is goshawk. I had never seen them before (I mean sparrowhawks and goshawks), and cannot tell the difference. I thought it was a sparrowhawk female due to the big size. Vielen Dank für Deinen Besuch und Kommentar!

Pena que no haya gavilanes vegetarianos. Pero éste (creo que es una hembra por el gran tamaño y dorso pardo) es un gran cazador. Se lo curra mucho. Espero que se vaya en primavera, ojalá!!

While it was there looking for something to eat, "my" sparrows were feeding peacefully only 20 meters away! In winter sparrowhawks must come near inhabited areas to survive. Poor thing, it must live too. Thanks for visiting!
