These lions are smaller than their African cousins, and their prides consists typically a couple of lionesses, possibly with some more cubs. The lions don't constantly live close to the females. They are not the king of beasts, not even the African ones, nor the largest Barbary ones, now extinct. These lions live far away from tigers in India, real king of beasts. With such small prides, they are unable to compete with much stronger tigers. The narrator lacked in-depth knowledge.

I love my India, Gir Lion and Bengal tigers. Thank you so much. I visited Gir forset 20 years ago and facilities has changed a lot when I visit India again I will make an effort to visit them. I was teaching my 8 years old son about endangered species and I came across this. Beautiful.
