Fenland Grass Track Racing Club Short Film Norman Southgate Memorial 2011 Speedway Grasstrack

Short Film By Jason Kirby. Grass Track Racing featuring the Fenland Grass Track Club. The Norman Southgate Memorial Event held at Greenacres Farm, Wood Walton, Cambridgeshire, England. 30th July, 2011. The event also incorporated the Bill Barley, John Morrey and Shaun Ducker Memorial Trophies. Film stars former Brittish Junior Racer Tom Brennan with interviews and on bike footage.

Film features the Vintage and Youth Grasstrack Classes.

@speedwaylove Hi, No the camera speed is not sped up. Filmed at 60fps @ 720p and added to the timeline as is. I think the bumps on the track combined with very little suspension gives this effect. Cheers Jason.

A quality piece of work!

My only constructive criticism's are that the titles are a bit too long and maybe a condensed version of 15 minutes -20mins is possible as some shots appear two or three times.

Like i say though - you have a great talent and when i hooked it up to the 42" plasma on HD it was superb.

I really like how it captures a day at the Grasstrack more than just featuring the racing....

Hiya, well I think these guys were doing approx 60-70mph on the straights. The kids a little less. Hopefully one of the riders will read your question and give you a more precise answer. The camera I use is a Canon 7D DSLR plus a host of other equipment. Not easy to use if you are new to filming, as you dont have auto focusing etc, as with traditional video cameras.
