A story composed with children in a school in Dorset to highlight the use of a magical object in a story to model 'change' and 'magic'. The intention is always to have a change of character or situation and with this story and the subsequent Great Fire of London Stories it's to give a complete, linear, three-part story that can be planned in a short space of time and writen within the demands of the SATs.
The more children see teaching professionals using a simple plan, then the more relevant it will seem to them to copy this strategy. In general I would say that it gives some ideas for the structure of a linear, narrative SATs story.
