Actually, yes a great deal many do. If you see tree hugger as an umbrella term which icludes animal rights activists such as PETA.

I'm gonna hug a tree now. Then I'm gonna pay a bunch of 3rd world people to plant trees and keep their countries primitive. It's not Western condescension as long as it's done from a leftist perspective.
