  • I've always loved the early Human league stuff. Got Travelogue in the car at the moment :)

  • Marianne is such a heartbreaking song, it still gives me goosebumps years after first discovering it. I think it's the line about running around the garden in your mother's shoes that gets me every time.

  • I love this track. The Australian remix version also rocks.

  • This song reminds me of the film logan's run

  • this is why real artist should never get involved with the industry. image if they made album up to now as the original human league with a underground label.

  • This is a monster track from a strange all consuming time. If i won the lottery i would swap the cash to be timetravelled back to 1980.I look and laugh at todays so called stars but at least i can say i was there when it really happened.

  • Yep, this is probably one of Human League's best songs.

Although the"Dare" album was well known, the previous work was a lot more creative. I followed them up to "Hysteria", but it seemed to go downhill from there.

I liked Phil Oakley's low voice, it always harmonized well with the synthesizers.

Too bad I never encountered some dance venue (back in the 1980's) that played this song. It always became a private "happy dance."

All that's left is the space and the life, that goes on as before

  • Theres something futuristic sounding about this song, well for 1980 at least! I think it's cool and doesn't get enough exposure! The 1980 remix of Being Boiled is pretty top as well!

  • Hold the pic!!! Taken in Birmingham with some class WMPTE buses in the background!! Hellfire!!!!

  • I remember hearing this the first time (been waiting ages) And didn't disappoint. When I was in Sydney I bought the cassette of 'Travelogue' and then heard the rare Australian mix of 'Marianne'... Oh God. Briliiant!!!

  • I've got this on a live tape somewhere and it's better than the studio version. I'll see if I can borrow a tape recorder from someone and put it on Youtub.

  • Probably my favourite Human League song. I am still listening to this regularly over 30 years after first hearing it.
