  • That was such a great party for Stan!

  • It's nice to hear "Leaving of Liverpool" with a touch of Hughie's Liverpudlian tones.

In the US it's all too frequently done as an Irish song, complete w/ staged Irish accent.

I am sorry they were singin' "thee" though. I know for a fact that Hughie knows better. (It was "you" always was.) I suspect it's just him generously giving in to what the audience wants. It does make for a smooth singalong. He is a polished performer and a gentleman.

  • we will be

  • sounds great, thanks for posting

  • The Leaving of Liverpool is a Scouse folk ballad, first heard sung by emigrants over 150 years ago (as far as we know) on the General Knox it is and still is sung in every household and pub in Liverpool to and for everyone. It was great favourite in 50s and sixties of all generations.

  • Thanks for that, I had not known of forebitter songs before and thought them all shanties!

  • Correct 10/10

  • Loved it!
