  • ... e.g. low stand density of woods may be rewarded by office penalty or even to three year of prison, even for owner of the wood ...! - according to the Czech penal law, par. 181c.

  • From the pieces of these articles I have read they are well written, I will have a better look a bit later

I understand, dealing with officialdom is far from easy., local or public authorities have rigid rules and no give or take,

The unfortunate fact is that the natural environment always suffers,

Thank you very much for letting me know about this Butterfly

    Best wishes Richard

  • I place reliance upon authors of these articles (Konvička, Beneš), they are professional entomologists from the Czech Entomological Institute. I only want to give vent to my exasperation for case when the public authority (in spite of delarated intentions) rewards the biodiversity destruction or punish the behaviour making for biodiversity preservation ...

  • Hi trapican

I have looked up the food plant of this species, In my opinion machine cutting of areas where this Butterfly was found will not work as a conservation measure, Broom as you must know is a shrub sensitive grazing may be the answer to this problem. It may be the case, as in the UK that several bad (wet)summers have had a detrimental affect on butterfly species in general,

I am Not sure if these comments Help,

    Best wishes Richard

  • Thanks for putting me onto this, I have downloaded a copy of this document, I am trying to research the larval food plant at the moment, In the UK we only have one Hay cut per season usually about the end of July early Aug, This if the conditions are right preserves the natural diversity, in addition to this a lot of conservation groups are using natural grazers like cattle,

  • Search please by Google: "How too much care kills species: Grassland reserves, agri-environmental schemes and extinction of Colias myrmidone (Lepidoptera: Pieridae) from its former stronghold"

  • I am uneasy about situation in agroenvironmental management policy. Agroenvironmental subsidies goad into biodiversity destruction! In White Carpatians subsidies from founds of EU dedicated to nature conservation have conduced to extinct of rare Danube Clouded Yellow - Colias myrmidone at its last locality in Czech Republic. For more information find by Google: myrmidone_europe_version11-2008 or "Colias myrmidone" AND "White Carpathians".

  • Thanks,

Good for you, a friend seeded his back garden 7 years ago with native wild flower seed and this is just starting to look great.

The diversity is increasing every year

  • You are right we need the old hay meadows for all kinds of creatures including butterflies ~ I've seeded my own wild flower garden :-)

  • I agree with Jolanda!

We love butterflies and all creatures great and small and N says (we are not too keen on the great whites! - sharp teeth)

Love and have a great week

    x
