Apparently they were lacking in the DST changeover in the Arts and Sciences building at UAlbany. When class started at 5:45, the clock in the classroom read 6:45 (which was strangely enough, an hour AHEAD). Well, at 5:58, the system set itself, and this vid shows part of that. My professor's head gets in the way at the end, but if you listen close enough, you can hear the clock "click".

It kept going until it read 5:58 and then resumed normal operation. However, it was still 10 minutes behind, but that was fixed at 6:58 when it again adjusted itself to the correct time. It was fine from then on out.

  • Do most of the clocks in UAlbany look like this? I would assume so, since all but one of the academic buildings there use Simplex fire alarm systems.

  • yes, most of them do, but to be honest, there's not much left anymore. As they rennovate the buildngs, they're uninstalling the systems and never re-installing them, and if the clock just breaks, they just remove it and never put it back.

  • my schools i attended has the clocks and PS apeakers in 1 unit with the clock on the left side and the speaker on the right, ive seen the reverse ones too

  • Yeah, there's lots of those out there...

  • where can i find info on them ive tried forever and no results, what search terms can I use, i want pics and info maybe a video

  • Do you remember the maker?

  • I actually found a few Simplex clocks like this at the hospital I work at! They only have them in the emergency wing in some of the rooms. IDK if they were added in the '80s, or when the emergency wing was renovated around 2001-2003 (they also have a Simplex 4100 voice-evacuation system, there are 4903 speaker/strobes in the emergency wing; ironically that's what that UAlbany building in the video has!)

  • My school has always used battery operated clocks with a simplex time control panel next to the 4010 fire alarm panel in the main office.

  • At my high school, alot of the clocks in the classrooms which were Simplex or IBM clocks slowly started going dead from feb. 2007 till now, and were replaced with battery-operated clocks that are not in sync with the bells ringing, or just left with empty spaces, but there are still alot more Simplex clocks that still work.

  • I saw a clock that looked just like that at North Junior High School (most of the others were IBM clocks from 1957 and a couple of older Simplex clocks, the master time panel was a Simplex model). I also saw the square versions at my high school, at the Downey Elementary school and South Junior High School.

  • Leitch clocks are better.

  • Massasoit Community College.

  • National Time's fire alarms aren't as good as Simplex, but their clock systems are just as good. The new elementary schools built in my town since 1998 use National Time clock systems (and EST fire alarm systems), but nearly all the older schools have Simplex master clock panels (and many of them have Simplex clocks too). Besides, Simplex maintains all the school clock systems in my city.

  • what college are u referring 2 about the clocks not working

  • simplex firealarm systems and clock systems are bull shit. use national time and signal fire alarm and clock systems, much better quality

  • What class is this?
