Prolong your PlayStation 3 by doing this simple fan test. This will help clear the dust from your system and hopefully prevent your system from the Yellow Light of Death from overheating.

Note that this is for the 40 gig model only. Sorry I failed to mention that in the video.

  • right on, im gona have to bust out and get me a ps3 just so i can do this, how yal ike the wii? i see ya got one, call me later and tell me which one i want,t hanks in advacne, my number is 7018333900 god bless you man

  • @jbeltran0 The Wii has become decoration. I only got it for Zelda & Metroid which were great, but I have no interest in much else for the system.

  • @drunkasssteve I have the same PS3 model as you fat 40 gig....I like it and all had it since it came out, but I recently got Saints Row 3 and I installed it then I saw it gave a free digital copy of Saints Row 2 so I downloaded it and then once it was ready to install....I don't have enough space. So I deleted game data's music, pictures, videos, but nothing gave me enough any idea what else is causing me to be using so much of my hard drive? Thanks.

  • @Poo597 I had a terrible time with space issues. If you have around $40, go get yourself a laptop SATA hard drive. I put a 320 gig in mine and life is so much better. It's easy to do. There are many videos out there that can help you with the steps. You'll need to first sync your trophies (those don't transfer over). Then use the PS3 backup utility to a FAT32 (doesn't read NTFS) formatted external drive. Replace hard drive, then transfer everything back, resync trophies, and back to normal.

  • @drunkasssteve Oh man thanks so much, I didn't know laptop hard drives worked! I'll probably get around to doing this in a week or two, so do all my saves, and game data transfer over too because I don't want to have to buy addons and stuff like that again or download something that'll take an hour or two.

  • @Poo597 Yeah, using the the PS3 backup utility is the easiest way. You can find videos telling you how to do that. Everything will appear just as it did before, except a ton more space. As for add-ons, you don't have to purchase them over again. You can go somewhere in your Account Management>Transaction Management>Download List to re-download anything you paid for already.

Feel free to come back and let me know how much better life is once you have more than ample space.

  • @drunkasssteve Alright thanks, will do. It just sucks having such great games but not being able to play them do to space issues.
