Visit www.harrowboro.com for more, and much better-presented, information about the club.

Eight goals were scored in this match - Harrow Borough beat Waltham Abbey 5-3 - but the only topic of conversation in the bar was the astounding miss by non-league legend, Rocky Baptiste.

Thanks to Rocky for being a good sport in allowing me to post footage most people would have wanted to bury in the garden. I include an example of Rocky in more typical mode: scoring a goal.

The five Boro' goals, and many others, can be found on the foolandhismonkey channel, right here on YouTube.

(Some folks seem to be under the impression that the miss and the goal come from the same match. I would like to clarify that the miss is from the Waltham Abbey match on 28/11/2009, and came just as second-half injury time began, with Boro' already leading 5-3; the goal was scored in a 5-1 win in the FA Trophy 1Q replay against Soham Town Rangers on 20/10/2009, and was the first of Rocky's brace that night. I included the goal as an example of Rocky's capabilities, because although the miss is funny, I thought it only fair to show why he is so respected in football. Other examples of Rocky's goals are available on the foolandhismonkey channel - the injury time free-kick against Wealdstone is like Beckham v Greece! You might also like the Daniel Dyer (not that one!) Wonder Goal. Thank you, The Fool. p.s. Waltham are in white, and Soham are in green - footballers may be divas, but they don't often have costume changes during a match, ha ha).

I really was not expecting such a huge response to this video; thank you for watching, and I hope you have enjoyed it. Great goal, no?
I would be very interested to learn about the reach of this video, so why not let me know where you are in the world, and how you came to learn about it? Thank you.

Hello to Push and the rest of the hardworking fans of this video at the Royal London.

  • he is lucky really that u cant bet on these type of games o people would be asking questions but it was obvious for whatever reason he missed it on purpose

  • @DAJAZDJ1 Welcome back to DAJAZDJ1, our friendly, neighbourhood troll. He isn't spouting racist nonsense this time, at least, but seems to have graduated to conspiracy theories; jolly good. As I have said before, this was an unfortunate miss by a good player looking to lash the ball into an empty net. Misses like this must happen somewhere in the world every week, but there's not always a camera there to see them.

By the way, bookmakers do take bets on Ryman League matches.

  • The Guardian (newspaper) brought me here via a direct link via an online article. (Google search: Fernando Torres's miss against United was not the worst ever)

  • @straydoggio Thank you, straydoggio. I am always interested to hear where in the world people are watching my clips, and also what led them here. There's a small error in the Guardian article (at the time of writing this); can you spot it?

  • @FoolAndHisMonkey A small error in the Guardian article? I've re-read it and can't find it. Names and timelines all seem to match up. Unless the journalist has already corrected it, care to tell me what it was?

  • @straydoggio The article repeats the erroneous idea that the miss and the goal occurred in the same match. Please click on 'Show More' underneath the clip to read the full story. Simon Burnton is not the first, and likely won't be the last, to make that mistake, even though all the details are readily available on this page.

  • @FoolAndHisMonkey Well by taking bets i think that proves what he did and why my 9 yrs old son wouldn't of missed that in fact he wouldn't of missed that when he was 1

  • @dionysis19081992 your spot on at least 1 peson agrees with me it was obviously delibrately missed

  • that miss was funny but he did end up scoring at the end

  • on PURPOSE...WAKE UP IDIOTS

  • to be honest it looks like he missed it on purpose.. look at how he high fives his teammate lol

  • haha, it's hilarious to me that several reporters haven't noticed that the kits are different for the miss and then the goal! He had to endure the embarassment in the game he missed!
