(As it seems, I already did the Cosmic Mario Forest Race. Sorry, Rinsting.)

As you play through Super Mario Galaxy, you can visit the Library section of the Comet Observatory. There, you can read the backstory of Princess Rosalina--who she is, where she came from, and how she got to live with the Lumas on the Comet Observatory. It plays out very much like a picture book. It looks like one, and it reads a lot like one.

Some people say that it's pretty depressing, uncharacteristically so for a Mario game. I could definitely see where that's coming from, but I suspect Nintendo wanted to tell people to look ahead instead of being stuck in the past. Rosalina never gets to be with her family again, but she acquires a new family. I THINK that's the idea. (Don't ask how she found all these supplied needed for a house or why there's a huge pile of books encased in the comet's ice to make a fully stocked library. I don't know.)

If it ever goes by too fast for you, just pause the video.

  • So..she becomes immortal then? from what?

  • @MissNatty93 The simplest explanation is that she doesn't come from the same world as Mario, or that people in the Mari universe live for extremely long times.

  • Is his in the 1 game or second one i wanna buy he one with her !

  • @dannie2cool4u This one is the first Super Mario Galaxy.

  • Rosalina is easily one of the most interesting female characters created for video games recently. Hell, in terms of the female character made by Nintendo she's probably THE most interesting.

I mean how many times do we have a central female character in a video game who's a mother AND capable?

Her backstory is so heartwarming and hearwrenching at the same time.

Plus, she lives in a space station comet and raises star children. That's just awesome.

  • Thumbs up for Rosalina appearing in Mario Kart 7

  • @TheJboy88 I really can't think of any characters who match Rosalina. We have characters that are capable, but their status as a mother is just a line in the character bio that no one cares about. And then we have characters such as the parents in Earthbound who are a part of the story but can't actually contribute directly. Rosalina may have been a side character, but she appeared frequently and had enough magical ability to run a freaking blockade.

  • @Overhazard The simplest explanation is that MAGIC.

  • i dont like peach that much shes a priss i like daisy because shes not afraid to get a little dirty once in a while and rosalina should be included in ALL the further and up coming mario games IF YOU WANT ROSALINA AND DAISY TO HAVE THERE OWN GAMES AND BE IN ALL THE GAMES POST THIS IN ALL MARIO VIDEOS AND PEACH VIDEOS AND DAISY AND ROSALINA VIDEOS maybe someone will see it and get OUR idea start a REVALUTION

  • I'm a male in my mid 20's and this storybook really got to me, it made me cry so hard. It reminded me of mortality and how the people you love will not be around forever. Such a expertly crafted piece of storytelling, one that gives a sense of hope and didn't resort to a cheap 'she sees her parents again' ending. I can't applaud Nintendo enough for this beautiful segment in a fantastic game. People who ignore the storybook or think of it as 'boring' really are missing out on something great.

  • What Rosalina Sounds Like:

    Mario Galaxy:Normal

    Mario Kart Wii:Normal

    Mario Galaxy 2:Normal

    Mario Kart 7:DRUNK

  • i like the song. :-)

  • ohh so sad but so sweet

  • so i assumed maybe from long exposure or something to the lumas probably made her what she is now.

  • @Overhazard its just that what kind of confused me was, she did say earlier if she had kept searching for the Lumas mother, shed be old.
