The point is not to show that you can infect computers (that is obvious that you can), but to test the effectiveness of the software that is supposed to protect the average user from infections. With so much AV software out there, it can be hard to choose what to install, that is why these tests are good rather than believe what the corporations have to say.

@manganificent well I have seen PC's infected while running all kind of AV, from kaspersky to symantec or AVG, Avast, etc even Comodo...

Which programs/combination do you recommend then for active protection? Is Avira Premium 10 (on high heuristics) + ThreatFire good enough?
What about on-demand scanning, which is the best one?
