Yes they work great I have used them in the past. The key thing is to pack it as tight as you can and have a few different layers of different type of materials. you understand. I would love to see what you ended up with.

every fall i fill big garbage bags with leaves and it works well

I've been doing this for years I take any old holey t-shirts or any cloth scraps. I have used the plastic feed sacks the most.

You can fill them with bunches of the same kind of feed sacks as well as cloth scraps, once it's stuffed full as you can get it sew her up. Better than throwing the bags away. Also my feed store sells the bags unused for $1.00!

I have used old frayed and broke bow strings, some recycled Dacron strings will sew her up nicely! Good of you for sharin with everyone!
