Next question is, how do you have the dockstar driving the original internal display? some kind of self-written display driver?

Novel! I like how it can loop-back into the host system so to speak. I'm going to have to find my SE now, and pull its battery so it doesn't (if it hasn't already) end up like the donor of this case.

You're using mini-vmac, and it also looks like the mac plus version.
That is why it's so slow.
