Trace Adkins' home south of Nashville burned to the ground on Saturday afternoon even though 16 firefighters, backed up by roughly ten additional men and women called in fought the blaze for hours. Trace's wife, Rhonda, shared with TV reporters how important it is that families everywhere know the importance of pre-planning for emergencies like this. She said, "If anything ever happens, this is where you run to. So people can see you," referring to the tree the family had designated as a meeting place in such an emergency.
Trace, who was on a plane to Alaska when the fire broke out, didn't learn of the blaze until he landed. Then he got back on a plane to return home.
Trace's daughter, Brianna, who witnessed the fire first hand talked to Nashville's News Channel 5 TV station on Saturday while her home was still burning.
The family plans to stay at their farm, about 30 minutes away from Nashville, for the time being.
Wow, your daughter is a brave little girl.. I would've been freeking out if my house was on fire. Thank God no-one was hurt.
