TUN: Un-Ruining the MMO

As a fun bit of trivia, Guild Wars 2 ruined my Youtube channel for like four months. One of the reasons I wasn't making videos is because I was playing it too much. It's the best of the theme parks in my opinion, but it's still a theme park and so didn't have much of a role to play in the point I was trying to make.

Hmm, but if you focus on sandbox elements, aren't the emergent behaviors simply a cycle of creation and domination/destruction. Where a veteran mob has dictatorial power over the game until an opposing band of players can challenge it, leaving the hermetic newbie essentially a stripped down theme park where the clowns are all piss drunk and out to get you, and your only solace a bearded lady seeking unsavory services. One Salem in the world may be enough, just saying.

also i'm surprised you didn't mention dark souls' very interesting take on multiplayer in this video. the whole "massively single player" concept that bungie seems to be emulating with destiny

actually, Mortal online is another example of a sandbox mmo. except it's a terrible buggy unpolished mess and the gameplay isn't even that good and the community is AWFUL.

Pretty much any themepark MMO: Give up within a few months to a year.
