a gem. impossible to produce again. i have heard about the swati nakshatra that it converts water drops into a pearl. this song would have been sung in the same nakshatra.

The actress is Surekha. She did the role of Uma's (sharmila tagore) mother who dies while giving birth to Uma. Her father - the gentleman in the song, starts hating her because of that and Uma grows up to be an extremely introvert and scared little thing who seldom ever speaks and stays in her shell most of the time until a young poet comes in her life. They fall in love and he helps her bring her out of her shell.
Absolutely beautiful movie and this is one of my favorite songs.
