in case of ... channel loss

Some of us are interested in something in addition to atheism, science, and philosophy. YT has excellent channels that upload documentaries. One such was germanicfolc: unfortunately, it has been suspended.

If the owner of germanicfolc ever watches this, please don't admit defeat. I also offer a suggestion: some of us only understand a smattering of German, and even less of the Scandinavian languages. I would appreciate single-language channels. If you do start another channel, please let me know. I will spread the word (in my limited fashion).

For those who do suffer channel loss, I offer other suggestions. 1) It is much less work to lose one of several channels, than one mega-channel. So, it would be much easier to upload to a series of channels and provide notification of the uploads on a central (master) channel. 2) put your old channel name in the tags to your videos: this way, others can easily find your latest channel(s).

I have checked the tag every so often: nada. He/she might be too disgusted with YT to create new channels and begin uploading all over again. If so, it is a great shame for all concerned.

Why, oh why? It is so difficult to find good programming here in the U.S., where Billy Bob Q. Public 's idea of a documentary is Jersey Shore, and history outside of America didn't happen. I was showing my girlfriend the Norman invasion series, and we took a break two nights ago, unaware that it would no longer be available. Germanicfolc, you will be sorely missed.

Doncha just hate it when that happens? The tendency for YT to close down channels probably encourages viewers to download videos = grab it while you can.

"Public": the same phenomenon occurs on YT. Boobs and boobs attract 10K views quickly, whereas excellent educational videos are largely ignored. Thought and learning require effort.

That's true xxSP has some of the same material, but germanicfolc had some unique uploads. You also have the advantage of knowing more germanic languages ;)

Does anyone know whether he (she?) is staging a comeback?

@EvolvedAtheist He was back right away after he was terminated with a channel called "Diutiscfolc". Managed to upload lots of content until he was terminated again about a month ago. I believe he reopened under a new name but can't seem to find it.

Indeed, it's really frustrating how many other channels don't suffer the same consequence. As if finding or even educating people about Germanic and European-western heritage wasn't hard enough.

I hope that it is not permanently lost. It appears to have been a German network that filed the copyright claim. That depends on whether or not he (she?) backed the material up and is willing to re-upload. It was an enormous amount of work, though. That's why it is probably wise to use the same strategy as xxSilverPhinxx and WhyEvolutionIsTrue = spread it around.

I'm SO angry! . Possibly one of the greatest collections of history documentaries of the Germanic peoples/ Europe & it's gone. Absolutely livid. :( .
