Cite your resources the correct way every time. Follow these tips to create a Turabian-style footnote for your web-based information.

To complete this how-to, you will need:

Author
Title
Site manager
Web address
Date

Step 1: List the page's author

Start the footnote by listing the page's author, if one is credited. Then add a comma.

Step 2: List the page's title

Follow by listing the page's title in quotation marks and then add another comma.

Find the title within the page or by looking at the bar that runs across the top of your web browser.

Step 3: List the organization in charge of the web site

List the corporation or organization that is in charge of managing the website and follow that with a period.

Step 4: List the web address

List the complete web address for the page you are citing.

Step 5: List date accessed in parentheses

In parentheses, list the word "accessed" and the date that you retrieved the website.

Step 6: Finish the footnote with a period

Finish the footnote with a period. And feel confident that your teacher or anyone else has all the information needed to trace your resources.

In 1962, J.C.R. Licklider wrote memos describing an Intergalactic Network where anyone, anywhere could access information at any time. This idea helped spawn the creation of the internet.
