@Celithralia as Calvyno said... *sighs* Sorry, should have waited till I was more awake to post!

@Celithralia In other words if you are familiar with 3D design from scratch at all, or would like to get introduced to such things then building in SL might be something you enjoy. There are classes in world with places such as the Caledon University or Builders Brewery, and private sims tend to be friendlier then the main grid. In August Mesh viewer is being introduced, which will allow folks with 3d building skills to upload custom .obj files and skins created in blender or maya... ect.

@Celithralia You aren't given textures and furniture, ect... like the sims. You either have to upload them yourself, at $10L a pop or there are lower priced and freebie textures in various shops around SL or the marketplace. There are also different builders tools to make things a little easier, which range from 0L to thousands of L. L=Lindens the in game currency. As Juinor said, it depends on your preferences. If you want complete control over your creations and are tech or graphics savvy...

There is a snap to grid option if you know where to look. You can base it off of local, world or use another prim as a reference, and you can customize the size of the grid. There are various tools or methods for placing a physical grid to work with too. In addition you can move items by mathematical increments on the X, Y, and Z axis and line things up this way. In regards to free form building, as Juinor said, you create everything from scratch, and then texture it yourself.

4 years old video, but.. Calvyno, you should('ve?) learn a thing or two about about saving prims. :3

In a way, yes. But there are no AI players (That move where you click and have pre-scripted events.)
You should look up more videos about Second Life.
-
thanks, but can you create family or do a movie?
Is this better than the Sim2 and Sim3?

@Juinor Depends on your preferences. Second Life has no grids that snap to easily like Sims does. It's purely free-form.
