Kehinde Jessica are singer, songwriter and producer Kehinde (pronounced Kane-Day) Azeez, and singer Jessica Gilchrist. They met in 2010 through a TV show "My Pop Diary" broadcast on Melbourne's C31 TV station. Jessica was auditioned as the bubbly blonde for a girl group put together by Kehinde as part of the TV show. However, when the other girls in the group moved inter-state Jessica continued working with Kehinde on her singing and now they have come together to make some sweet music.

"Key To Your Heart" is their first single as a duo and is a quirky pop record that fuses
guitars, synths and harmonies, underpinned by a two-step groove. It has elements of music spanning decades. From the 1960s guitar sound (courtesy of Guitar Rig 4), 80s Oberheim synth sounds and a 1950s sounding acoustic bass.

"We kind of just evolved naturally" explains Kehinde. "I found that whilst working with Jessica on some material after the girl band sort of ended, that Jessica really liked the same sort of
music that I liked. I played her some garage tracks and she really liked it straight away and I really liked that. We tried rehearsing a couple of duets and I knew then that she would be right to be a part of this project, so we started recording, it was that simple" .

"After many years of writing and producing for other artists, I felt the time was right for me to focus on recording my own material and to re-invent myself more as an artist and not just as a producer. I still love recording and producing but I want to be more in the forefront singing rather than just behind the scenes. Jessica and I really get on very well and I love the idea of our contrasting styles, sound and personalities. She's the cheeky bubbly one and I am the more suave serious type". Kehinde

Kehinde Jessica's vocal sound revolves around the blend of their vocal styles and
features, overlapping adlibs, harmonies and singing in unison producing one of the freshest sounds to come out of Australia.

  • It sounds good and its certainly catchy, but is all the auto tuning necessary? Its a bit overboard x

  • @theyorkshiregal I understand your comments but autotune is a tool used by many producers as a sound effect in itself. Lot's of people do it and it's no different to compression, reverb or delay. But thanks for you comments it is appreciated.

  • meh. not my style, but it's ok

  • @imamadmad1 That's ok. All views welcome. Thanks for sharing.

  • am i the only one who finds this a tat creepy?

  • EVERYONE! CHILL! Don't be rude to people just because they have different opinions than you. I am one of the people that disliked the video, but hey, I didn't say anything mean to the people that did, or said anything cruel about the artists. Just please be more mindful of people's feelings, and don't counter people's opinions negatively just because they aren't the same as yours.

    Have a nice day :))

  • meh!!!

  • Not my type of music im afraid but good luck with your music career :)

  • this is pretty good. i like it. keep up the good work. this should be one of your hit singles.

  • Honestly, I think this was a waste of your talents as performers. You both have fine voices that deserve to be heard properly. There is no need for the overproduced Autotuned plastic veneer. The performance was unconvincing, but that’s more the fault of the writing. Even a great actor can’t make a non-character come to life. Overall, it’s not grating, but neither is it particularly memorable or interesting. I think you can do better.

  • @klubvhp all the effects are different but i get what you mean its just the autotune has a kind of harsh effect in some parts :/

  • The song was pretty good, but the autotuning was very unnecessary, and the hand movements were a bit odd.

  • @MyMark18. I think you have made your point so can you direct your energies into spreading the word about K&J to the world :) Today is Valentine's Day so let's keep it positive and happy..
