If he's alive, where is he? Certainly not in the Digital World. Yggdrasil/King Drasil would have made sure he was terminated if he ever returned.

It would have been better off for him to have survived to be brought to justice before the UN+Yggdrasil/King Drasil and then be executed. Doing so, would have prevented the final uneccessary, meaningless conflict.
