Pamirs, Tajikistan. These valleys connected Europe and the Middle East with the vast market of China, the remote mountains are home of 200,000 Pamiris. For more of 70 years they were an obscure outpost of the Soviet Union a strategic important area bordering China and Afghanistan. Red Cross Red Crescent workers bringing aid to what is maybe the poorest part of Central Asia face an uphill task in moving around...

  • Amazing but so sad, what an incredibly hard life. I agree with D Hirst, these people should be given all the help possible. Well done Red Cross and Red Crescent, what you are doing is truly humane.

Please could you post more about places we may never get to see.

    Many many thanks

    Lubna

  • I think we should help these people, why is our government not looking into this situstion. It will need massive input from governments why are we sending all this aid to places like Africa we are in Afganistan so we have a line of supply in place.

This is a fantastic vidio and I hope our Government will watch it some time.

  • This video made me cry. The life in Pamir is really hard, but no doubt we are mountain people and we will survive. I remember life being very hard during the civil war, but now it is much better. I hope one day my Pamiri people will live in prosper and wealth. Thank you for the video.

  • which place do you exactly live in? would you tell me more about the political situation there? since it is in pakistan which is such a turbulent country, i would like to know how how change was brought to you?

  • Thanks for this video.

From little up always wanted to visit Pamir, Gorno-Badakhshan.. Probably some day i will make this dream a real.

  • I hope and wish that their lives will change. It is my faith that these people will rise to a respectable level. I say it because we too were facing the same situations few years ago, but now our lives have changed. we also live in the same region, but on Pakistan side. we share every thing with these people: language, culture, climet, religion, every thing... we beleive we are one... we are one.

  • The westerners should keep their filthy hands off the Pamirs or these people, this great nation will be ruined.

  • This is a beautiful video. I hope and pray for a better future for the people living in the Pamirs.

  • I am a photographer and dream of photographing the Pamir area and people also the Kalish tribes located in Pakistan, Bedoiuns and any other nomadic tribes isolated from society. These people are culturally beautiful and we need to preserve there rich heritage, America needs to support these people as well as Africa.
