Fan-made by me, unofficial. Babakganoosh performed by Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet, released on the 1988 album Savvy Show Stoppers. Footage from various vintage meat-related ads and educational films. The band won a 1992 Juno Award for "Instrumental Artist of the Year." Don Pyle on drums, Brian Connelly on guitar and Reid Diamond on bass. Their music was featured as the soundtrack for the "Kids In The Hall" television program.

  • Now I'm hungry!

  • The steaks at 1:04 - I want to reach through the screen and grab them. I haven't had such a thick steak since I visited the U.S. Have you ever heard of that restaurant in the States that has a 72 oz. steak challenge? The best!

  • Big Texan Inn, Amarillo, TX...

  • Was their music on The Kids in the Hall?

  • Yes - they performed the theme as well as the program's instrumental score. They got together because Kids used to perform on stage after Shadowy had ended their set, and fans began to associate the end of Shadowy's set with the start of a Kids set. So, I guess when it came time to make their television series, Shadowy was the natural choice. I haven't met many people who listen to Shadowy or know it outside of Kids In The Hall. I like the music even more now than I did back then.

  • Thanks! :) You should have seen the rest of the meat processing footage. Another half hour of what goes on in those giant meat machines...it was definitely an educational experience, to say the least, ha ha.

  • Very appetizing vid and perfect music too! Sounds very 60ish!

  • I'm a huge fan of laughing at old photographs / images of food products...especially the kinds featured in old cookbooks and vintage magazine ads...you know the kind...where the colour is horribly off: the roast beef looks grey, the vegetables are unidentfiable and everything appears to be gelled in gelatin a la aspic. This video was half inspired by that, and, half for the wonderful world of meat! What a clash between not-so-delicious and delicious!
