im going on exchange to Tokunoshima, thats a village on one of the islands off okinawa. is the dialect much different from main land japanese?

yes it is, but they all speak 標準語standard Japanese perfectly well, so I wouldn't worry about that. have fun!

thanx for sharing...how is the beach compared to Phuket in Thailand or Philippines, not been to Okinawa before,.

well, unfortunately I have only been to ko tao and koh phan gnan in Thailand so can't really compare to Phuket...

But the beach was nicer in Okinawa, I thought, because what I saw in Thailand was very exploited... didn't really like it..

Nice. What we got to do is to get all nasty americans out of islands. They destroy the places. Recently they found toxic waste damped from military bases around there. Get them out NOW!!!!
