Here I'm laying out another floral, a loosely rendered grouping of three pale yellow roses in sun.

Oh and i might add it must be COMPLETELY dry before you take out the staples, or it -will buckle-. But if you wait or use a hair dryer, it works really well.

Susan, I was very impressed with your paintings, although I am an Acrylic based artist and have dabbled here and there with watercolors, but it just wasn't my medium if you know what I mean lol. Anyways I totally agree with you on the stretching of the paper, it warps anyways in the end. I do have a question for you though, do you sketch your drawings beforehand and fill in your sketching afterwards with your paints? Again your work is brilliant, keep up the fine work!

Dear ChaosSurplus, I use Arches paper and usually Winsor and Newton and some Blick Studio watercolors. Arches does make a less expensive pad of paper which is still all-cotton and is almost as good as their blocks and individual sheets. It has a green logo on the front and is only around $15 for a pad 11x14. Good luck!

Thanks for the comment, Peachs...actually most of the time I have a sketch, usually done in graphite pencil which amazingly will come up with a soft eraser after the painting is done. Also, I've been using water-soluble pencils lately (often a burnt sienna color for a floral) for the sketch, and they just bleed into the painting, no need to erase.
