Coast Guard Rescues 104 Haitian Migrants

MIAMI - Crewmembers aboard the cutter Dauntless located a sail-freighter approximately 20 miles south of Great Inagua, Bahamas, May 9. The crew launched two small boats and distributed life jackets to the migrants.

Shotly thereafter, approximately 30-to-40 of the Haitian migrants fell overboard. Coast Guard crews immediately begin pulling the migrants from the water into their smallboats, resulting in zero loss of life.

The cutter Dauntless repatriated the 104 Haitian migrants to Cap-Haitien, Haiti, May 12.

I did a similiar OP in the early 90's onboard the Dirty D out of Galveston. It was almost identical to what I am seeing here, brought back memories. I was a non rate riding on the MSB and I had to fend them off from dumping our small boat. The same OP my buddy got his pic on the cover of Time Magazine.
