'The road to you' really grabbed me when I first heard its sweet, melancholic sentiment and I vowed to try and learn the guitar part purely for my own enjoyment. I figured it was slow enough for a non-guitarist like myself to figure out (primarily a bass player, my poor thumb-only technique is not only evidence of my desire for warm Pat-like tone, but also my inability to use a pick). In the process, my learning of the tune gave way to an introspective feeling of what it would be like to play something as close to Pat's version as I could muster with my somewhat idiot-savant musicianship. I relied mainly on my ear and an amalgam of trial and error lead sheets, compiled from the internet and finally one correctly transcribed by my great friend and brilliant musician, Pete Vitalone, who graciously provided the backing track heard here for me.

Sir you have done a wonderful job here. This is one of my favorites. I could listen to this all day long, although my heart would be totally broken by it.
