He said that the Government will spend 2.4 billion rupees with the assistance of the Japan International Corporation Agency in this connection. This will benefit 1.5 million people living in Jaffna district. A modern three-storied building will be constructed in the Teaching hospital premises which will house dental clinics, Xray, ECG, EEG and Ultra-sound units, a surgery and an Intensive Care Unit including other facilities. The Minister handed over medical equipment worth 20 million rupees to Welfare Minister Douglas Devananda. The Minister further said that the Government is attempting to provide all infrastructure facilities to the people in the South as well as North and East.
