**Music created by Evelyn Parham**

I am a parent of a child who has Trisomy 21/Down Syndrome. Trisomy 21 is occurs at conception during cell division. A person with Trisomy 21 has 3 chromosomes on the 21st pair instead of 2. Resulting in a total of 47 chromosomes instead of 46.

The extra genetic material affects the way the child develops and functions. Children and people with Down Syndrome are no different from you and I. Actually we are the same in so many ways.

Everyone on this Earth wants to be LOVED, CARED for and TREATED equally. Who could ask for more?

My daughter is a person first. Her diagnosis does not define who she is. She defines who she is. Whenever I introduce my daughter to anyone, I never say, she has Down Syndrome...that's not important. What matters most is that she's acknowledged as a person first. Always see the person and not the disability.

If you have family or friends who have children with Down Syndrome, treat them the same and no differently. Learn about the children and what the families go through. Don't be afraid to ask them...you just might learn something new.

  • @masterofuselessness My pleasure and thank you so kindly!

  • @EvelynPrather yes it did and thank you for the quick response! good luck with everything

  • @masterofuselessness Thanks! No, it doesn't. In some children it is obvious and in some it is not obvious. I have tons of photos of my daughter in some of the photos I see the facial characteristics and in some I don't. I think that's because I know she has Down Syndrome. I believe there are different levels of expressions of the extra genetic material and because of that it effects each person differently. Hope this answers your question. Take care!

  • hey i love this video but i have one question... does the more commonly known face with someone that has down syndrome come later? or can there be a less intense version because i dont see it as much as in other videos!

  • @rawcrave Thank you and many blessings to you!

  • @MzCJA Awww. girl you are making me tear up. Thank you so much, Sis and many blessings to you!
