Songs from the Jewish New Year 5768 --
Tum-Balalayka (Yiddish Folk Song)
Live Performance of the Yiddish folk song -- Tum-Balalayka-- by Amadea (Mezzo-Soprano) and Jürgen Gottschalk (Accordion). This song is about a young man, who is having trouble deciding which girl he should marry. In the end he decides that he will marry the girl, who can answer his "three questions" about life... Here is an English translation of the Yiddish folk song -- Tum-Balalayka:
"All night long a lad worries which girl to marry
Without embarrassing the other one.
Maiden, can you tell me what grows without rain?
What yearns without tears?
What burns forever?
Silly lad, a stone can grow without rain.
A heart can yearn without tears.
And love can burn forever..."

Superb voice and wonderful accordian music. I wish I knew what the song was about. Is it happy or sad. Is it mad ... probably not...is somebody hurt ... don't think so? But music is rather funny ... could be anything. So, what is it about? But beautiful music : FOR SURE.!!!!!
