  • Yeah right... played on Harpsichord but played in the terrible romantic way of "rallentando" every 5 seconds :S (I guess the player isn't harpsichordist but pianist)

  • Are you scure about what you say? See around you before to tell wrong things!

  • Yes... I know it's a harpsichord, but the player makes a looooot of rallentandi (in the Chopin romantic style), rameau is supposed to be played "giusto"

  • You must tink also the piece is so "caratteristic" imitating the way of the chicken and so if you tink the manner ot him I hope you understand this choise of Games with the time".

  • so many empty seats!

    co-co-co-dai

  • If anything, playing baroque music 'à la Sewing Machine' is the more pianistic trait. Liberty with time is something that is rather characteristic of French music, and it is commented on in several treatises of the 18th Century. Historically informed performers tend to take MORE liberties with tempo, if anything, than more 'romantic' performers. Furthermore, metronomic performances of music like this are not only wrong, but they are *boring*. And it is good taste which must always dictate.

  • Here's the thing, there is little instruction on the sheet music (at least the copy I have) as to the dynamics of the piece. What's more, it's not like we have live recordings from the 18th century. So, it's really a matter of interpretation of how it should be played on a piece by piece basis. Although, in my opinion, I think the piece is more punctual at a realatively fast and steady tempo.

  • tout ceci est trop scolaire,il faut écouter ce qu'en a fait scott ross,le roi du clavecin!

  • quid?

  • "rameau is supposed to be played "giusto"

and who told you that? Rameau?

I suppose that years ago people did not have any feelings and only played harpsichord making sure that it was "giusto" enough? Did anyone notice anything nice about this performance? I did: she played as a genuine musician and it was interesting to listen to. All best to all of you.

  • You are good, but you are not exellent.
