  • The racists are those that love to keep the blacks and whites seperated. Maybe for an ulterior motive, hate begats money. But millions, black and white, maybe secretly, have no racists issues. They go about their daily lives, never thinking about it. They are the lucky ones. Hate poisons the life out of a soul.

  • @Applebaum And also it's not like blackface, a popular form of entertainment in American for over a century, can be labelled as racist or not racist in its entirety. You might find some of Wagner's operas to be antisemitic, but that doesn't mean that anyone performing any of Wagner's operas or any opera in general is automatically an antisemite.

  • A very handsome African American, a credit to his race.

  • they still didn't accept black performers in his day so white people would put on black face when acting black roles. So when he got the job he had to put on black face too even though he was black.

  • So many times this song has been cover by various artist its great

  • @postscript67 That is because he was a good person. He marched for civil rights and was the FIRST to star the entertaining troops overseas!

  • @Blackjesus3 He was far from racist and march for civil rights.

  • @Blackjesus3 Obviously you weren't listening to the lyrics. It's song about pro freedom to black slaves.

  • Judge it by the standards from the time it was first recorded. Judge it by today's standards. He sang it with dignity. The Mississippi River is still rolling along!!

  • @Applebaum Black People decide.
