Quemaduras del Sol was a 20' tall golden sun effigy representing San Diego in the first ever Circle of Regional Effigies at Burning Man 2011: Rites of Passage. Created and led by Demian Dorrance, the installation also included elements designed by leads David Timms, Brandie Maddalena, and Paul Williamson. A team of over 40 people worked on this community project locally, a crew of 7 of us installed it on the playa, and the installation joined 21 other regions in the 600-foot CORE circle of artwork. All pieces were eventually burned in unison on Thursday during the event, and this is footage of our sun burning beautifully that night.
