A quick, easy, non-permanent way for dreadlock enthusiasts to clean up fuzzy roots with no elastic bands and no wax. Perfect just before a job interview or meeting the parents.

The records behind me clockwise from top left: West Side Story, SNFU, Modest Mouse, Joan Jett, Reggae Compilation, The Ventures, Buddy Holly, Meatloaf.

  • perfect! been looking for a new method for a while.

Have you heard of the method when you seperate the base and pull the dread through the gap? then opposite directing throught the roots?

  • This is usually called "flipping the roots" and can really weaken your dreads! I do NOT reccomend it!

  • First thing. I love your dreads and they look very good on you. Never seen them on a white girl to be incredulously hones. And each time you twist, you get SOME of the hairs to get (in some way) 'into' the dread. One time is NOT the charm.

  • Thank you! I'm so glad you get it - you have to try this more than once or twice to see long term results. :D

  • the hair doesnt lock up it just wraps the loose hair around the dread and then it comes out

  • which is what I say in the video. thanks for coming out...

  • @0:51 "Take two fingers, scratch your nose then take two more fingers and pinch your drealocks"

    nice tutorial btw! :)

  • is this the only thing you do to maintain your roots?

  • crackers don't look good with dreads at all

  • this is a great method, and it brings almost instant results...highly recommended!! :)

  • I've already said it on DT, but thank you for this farrenfox! I've also discovered that if you move your hands down the lock in sections; you can tighten up the entire dread that way!

  • thanks for the vid, i find it funny that i couldnt find a tip like this from african american dread tip vids (im black btw) so i appreciate the tip! i did this on my back dreads and it added a good amount of length to them which i didnt really expect :)

  • I don't know why but this tip seriously works like magic! The hand is soooo much better of a bass to rub your dread on then your scalp. Kudos to you and THANK YOU so freakin much! It saves me like HOURS everyday haha

  • good idea never heard of it be for works good thanks

  • i love that joan jett record/and or poster in the backround :D and beautiful dreads
