I miss those days too. People knew grammar and sentence structure too!

Now that is how a real little boy does, wiping the fish off on his pants. I wish they'd show these credits on Andy Griffith reruns instead of the still picture or that TV Land has made part of their crappy closings on the bottom of the screen with half-second flashes of cast names, etc.

thats real

woaah i did not know that they ended like that. i've never seen that. in all my 8 seasons they just end it with a blue screen or in black and white with a little picture of a tree or something in the bottom corner

thanks for making this. i needed it for a school project!

Also, an unusual change was made...these original credits show the copyright date as 1966, but the "blue background" version shown on the DVDs shows the copyright date as 1965. As Andy would say...."curious, curious..."!

@Superbatfan @mullethead201 Yes, Superbatfan, you are correct. These are the credits from the episode entitled "The Legend of Barney Fife". It's a shame that CBS, which otherwise presented the episodes on DVD as they were originally broadcast, failed to include this original version of the credits on the DVDs. Even if they were unable to present them for every episode, it would have been nice if they could have presented an example of them as a bonus feature. Thanks to retronaut for sharing!

He made three guest appearances in seasons six, seven and the final season eight. This was probably from his season six appearance as Jack Burns, who played Warren the deputy who replaced Barney, is also listed. His charcter did not work out and he only appeared in eleven episodes in season six.

@cag1970 yes, that's the same one who also did music for M*A*S*H, The Dukes of Hazzard and Gunsmoke
Don Knotts left the show in season 5. Why did his name is on the credits?

It was one of the episodes in which Knotts returned as a guest star.

This was posted in original aspect ratio, but yesterday (Nov. 24), YouTube changed to wide screen as the default for all playback.
