GRANGER - Brent Lewis Geiger, 28, passed away suddenly Wednesday evening at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka of an illness. Brent was born in South Bend to Dorothy (Granbacka) and Paul. L. Geiger who survive of Granger. Also surviving is his sister, Christie (Jason) Krause of Elkhart and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by all four grandparents and an aunt Helen Huggard in 2002. Brent was in the graduating class of 2000 at Penn High School where he was a member of the 1996 and 1997 State Championship Football Teams and a member of the Track Team making it to the State Finals two years in a row in both the Shot Put and Discus, the first time in school history anyone had done that. He graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in 2004 with a BS in Environmental Sciences and a minor in Business. While at IU he was a member of TEK Fraternity and was on the Dean's List. When he attended Schmucker Middle School he was the Bi-county Wrestling Champion in his weight class, which he was very proud of. After college he worked as an Operations Manager at Frito-Lay in Cincinnati, Ohio. While there he was a member of the Pacific Asian National (PAN) a professional trade group. Through work he was involved with the Susan B. Koman Race for the Cure, the Homeless Shelter and USMC's Toys for Tots. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, at St. Pius X Catholic Church of which he was a member with Msgr. William Schooler, Pastor, officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 pm TONIGHT at McGann Hay Funerals | Cremations | Gatherings, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23 (enter off Cherry Rd.) and one hour prior to the Mass in church. There will be a Wake Service at 6 p.m. tonight in the funeral home. He loved his late dog Star so the family wishes to have memorial donations in Brent's memory made to the St. Joseph County Humane Society, 2506 Grape Rd., Mishawaka, IN, 46545.
