Simmons made a better Brewer, whom the Cards then beat in '82. My vote is for O' Farrell from the '26 World Series Team, as follows: "Ruth call'd out while attempting to steal 2nd base in 9th of GM 7, MVP catcher O'Farrell from 39 yr old pitcher Alexander to 2nd baseman Hornsby, Ends 1926 World Series: The Cardinals Win the Series! w each Card getting a $5,500 USD championship share."

THE OZ 8TH!?!?!
WTF

Go Cards! Great video! (They say Stevie Wonder just could not hit the ball for some reason).

The second greatest hitter all-time in baseball and a fine power hitter and rbi man batting 6th?

Good choices! I think I would pick Scott Rolen over Boyer though. Scott had/has more HRs and RBIs and just 3 points lower on his career average. I didn't see Boyer play defense, but I know Rolen's defense is one of the best in modern baseball.

Lou Brock played left field, and actually he played it well even though some people claimed otherwise. With his speed, he covered a lot of ground that other players just could not cover. But mainly Brock provided a team spark.
The 1964 Cardinals were not doing well until they traded Ernie Broglio to the Cubs for Brock in mid-June. Then they took off.

Tim McCarver did a good job at catcher from 1963 through 1969. Simmons was a better hitter than McCarver, but if he played everyday his fielding dropped off. If he didn't play every day his fielding improved and his hitting fell off.

@OPSportsInc Other catchers: Torre, Gabby street, Walker Cooper
. Hornsby was the best right handed hitter of all time, BAR NONE. Pujols is not even close to him. Sorry, I love Brock but you better look up Medwick. BTW, Lou was an iffy right fielder. He could NEVER play center.
Dizzy for the 6 yrs he played was as good or better than Gibson. He not only started every 4 days but he relieved 17 times! As far as who bats what: Fuck it! Use a dart board! It wont matter! Wotta team!

@OPSportsInc cant argue with choosing Gibson. He was almost too good in 68--made a lot of players looked liked they belonged in minor leagues. Glad McGuire was not on the list, although Pujols has to be juiced on something, as good as he is
The catcher postion isn't a glamour position in the history of the St. Louis Cardinals. Ted Simmons was a solid hitter and was very good defensively. I'm almost pick Tom Pagnozzi or Darrell Porter.

Bob Gibson had a longer career than Dizzy Dean and Gibson dominated in two World Series ('64 and '67). The Deans dominated the 1934 World Series. Dizzy had arm problems that shortened his career but he was a good one. Yes....Dizzy Dean would be a member of the all-time Cardinals starting rotation. Thank you for commenting.

i didn't even know Ted Simmons was on the Cardinals. Guess you learn something new on YouTube.

My choice of Bob Gibson was based on the longevity of his career. Plus Gibson dominated in two World Series. Dizzy Dean had arm problems that curtail his career and he couldn't sustain his career because of it. If I had a Cardinals all-time starting rotation...Mr. Dean would certainly be in it. I might make a montage about that.
