Life size sculptures of marine turtles raise awareness of plastic pollution in our oceans
In May 2011 Fauna & Flora International (FFI) was invited to support Selfridges Project Ocean retail event in its iconic London store.
FFI's foray into art highlights the issue of plastic pollution in our oceans, posing a threat to marine life around the world. Turtles often mistake floating plastic debris for food, leading to choking, suffocation or death from starvation.
FFI works to protect marine species and habitat from plastic pollution and other threats, including poaching with programmes working with these turtle species in Nicaragua and Cambodia.
Getting the turtles to the event on the tube was an experience it itself. Seems nothing phases a Londoner...
