  • Or rather, "as narrator Benson said..." or even "as you heard Mr. Benson say..."

  • The "gentleman" has a name, and the name is Chuck Benson, so it would be best for you to say "as the narrator said..."

  • I want to listen to the book used for demonstration, even if that means turning the cassettes over 8 times (4 times cassette 1 + 4 times cassette 2, or what's the same thing, once sides 1-4, once sides 5-8)

Is it available in standard, 2-sided tapes or only on four-sided tapes?

  • yeah i use to use one too. the library of congress use to send them to kids with handicapps for free, and when they got finished using them. they hod to send them back.

  • We've one of these huge yellow players. Got it almost 2 years ago and it has been in use nearly if not every day. It is starting to not function properly anymore and will need to be replaced. :-( Can't wait for the smaller digital players. No moving parts plus much lighter and smaller. But who knows when we'll actually get these digital players in hand. Can't wait. Love NLS.

  • very good format, and very good machine!

  • I have one of those, and also an other one that I can use to record which is a walkman. I like to get the magazines on tape that you don't have to send back and then I record over them when I don't want them anymore.

  • My unit had a light blue plastic case. Is your unit also light blue, or is that just because of your camera and ambient lighting? I don't know about you, but I don't think these units were very durable, I had to replace my unit several times. When you put the unit into fast forward mode, I could hear the unit making the ticking noise that my unit also used to make. I often found that if I didn't insert the tape correctly the unit wouldn't rewind the tape or play it properly.

  • I used to have one of these. The RVIB Library here in Melbourne Australia where I live used to provide these for us to use. I now have a Plextalk PTN1 PRO and a Victor Reader Stream, much better than tapes, and both these unit use batteries unlike the Telex tape machine you're using. These Machines were OK, but APH made better ones that had stereo sound, and could record both 2 track and 4 track tapes.

  • That's a neat machine! 6 hours on one tape? WoW! Good demonstration! I have three cassette recorders that can record 15/16 speed, but are 2 track.
