START FREEDOM

Crossing continents, changing communities and coming to a school near you, START FREEDOM is a campaign designed to engage minds and create action against human trafficking - a crime affecting young people all over the world, every second of every day.

I was 12 when I was trafficked from Bangladesh to England. I was forced to work in Indian restaurants where my life was controlled by the owners. I couldnt go to school and slept on the street or in the storeroom between bags of onions and jars of chutney Masud (not his real name).

Launched on 14th October in partnership with and from the United Nations in New York, START FREEDOM provides a way for young people to campaign against trafficking and change the world for people like Masud.

Go to www.startfreedom.org to sign up and get resources in eight languages, which will include lesson plans and teaching resources, young people can respond to the campaign by creating their own message to highlight trafficking to their local communities.

Thanks cuddly pony! I hope you can get your school involved too. In the last week we've had contact from

- someone in Nepal who's translating it there

- a chap in Mexico who's looking for funding to deliver it across 18 communities

- and an organisation in Kyrgystan whos been running lesson with boys in prison, remand homes and at street kid centres.

Human trafficking is definitely the worst thing that goes on in the world right now. It makes me want to save every man, woman and child that is tricked into being trafficked. Sadly, being only one person, only 13 years old, I can't do that on my own. But I've been trying to promote this cause however I can - sadly most people don't like to listen to me. STOP HUMAN TRAFFICKING! STOPPT MENSCHENHANDEL! (I don't know any other languages, sorry)

Yeah!!! I hope everyone will realise that we all have feelings. :) I hope I can get my school involved with this.
