http://vawt.tk or http://www.wrapwind.com vawt vertical axis wind turbine hawt green.
here is an update for the FAWT Silo prop set01, i tried the fiber blades and my custom made blades, the fiber need 10kmh wind to get them going and my custome blades need 5kmh wind to get them spining.
next vid i will spread the blades on the custom propset 01.

FAWT SILO is a fixed axis wind turbine but it uses lift based props, i have playing with this idea for few years now in my head, i decided to give it a go, it is at the begining stages and there alot of mods still to be done. the idea is to take the air from horizontal to a downward direction and at the same time is to totally hide the proppeler from view.
i am hoping and predicting that it will be 60% effecient VS the HAWT.
the first step is to build one 4 times as big where the top and bottom defflectors will be 4 feet in width.

i hope you enjoy this video and not shoot me down as much. think diffrent......

  • Cool looking blades. What did you cut them from? Have you ever compared the speed of the blades in the silo with just holding the blades up in the wind?

  • i made them from 55 gal. drum.

i removed them out of the Silo just for you, i will be uploading another vid tonight.

    regards

  • Wow! Cool looking blades!

  • THanks,

I wish I had enough money to build the FAWT properly, I know it does not look the nicest but the idea is clear.

some of you must be laughing at me when i say "o we got some wind, and the gauge reads 4...5..6kmh"...lol i dont think i have seen 15kmh for a while now..

I have added Big O arround the edges to curve the wind down, i will show on the next Vid.

    regards

  • I love this format Sam , I think this is the direction to focus...Sid

  • Whats with all the structure around your turbine? Your just blocking the wind... You would do much better if you just put the gen in an open area... As suggested by mrbuki77 Try a squirrel cage blade design. I generate more electricity with a Bedini motor.

  • Buddy, you need a better energy plan. Suggestions in my channel... please feel free to subscribe to my channel

  • Just as a suggestion. Have you thought of trying a squirrel cage blade design. And adding scoops to the silo to catch more wind. Just an idea. Later from sunny FL

  • I like the blades of the rotator. They look rather perfect. Was thinking recently of making such blades with plane surfaces.

  • THE TAPER OF THE ANGLE GETS STEEPER FROM CENTER TO OUTER EDGE. I FEAR THIS WILL KEEP THE BLADES SLOW. IF YOU FEEL LIK TRYING ANOTHER SET .... USE TWO BLADES this will speed the air up and the blades . the tips should be 3 degrees and the root about 10 degrees . 6 " out from the edge of the hub go to 7 degrees and at that point just a steady taper to the outside tips at 3 degrees.
